Job Type: Hourly, Full-time

Compensation- $20-$25/hour Based on experience

Custom Foodscapes is seeking an maintenance crew member to assist on the care of ecological edible gardens

Custom Foodscapes helps people grow organic fruits and veggies at their homes, businesses or community spaces with the mission of creating a healthier and more connected world. 

We offer full service design and installation services for any type of food-producing landscape. We specialize in customized raised veggie beds, herb gardens, food forests and campus gardens for schools, corporations and community organizations.


Perennials Maintenance + Vegetable Gardener

 for Edible Ecological Landscapes:

Primary roles:

  1. Support our maintenance team, managing perennial foodscapes around the St. Louis Region

    1. These landscapes are edible-focused but often contain a significant portion of native landscaping as well. 

  2. As part of a team work as a personal vegetable gardener to private residential gardens and restaurants 

Maintenance Crew for Edible Landscapes: Trees, Shrubs & Perennials 

Ideal candidate can: 

  • Demonstrate knowledge of edible woodies and perennial plants

  • Demonstrate knowledge of native plants 

  • Provide maintenance for clients that have an edible landscape

    • Annual mulching

    • Cutting back of plants

    • Trellising

    • Pruning

    • Landscape enhancements such as edging, paver, new planters, fencing, invasive removal

    • Suggest new new plants to fill in the existing landscape

    • Occasional propagation to expand existing landscape 

    • Fertilizing low vigor plants

  • Drive truck to pickup and deliver materials like mulch and compost

Vegetable Gardener:

Primary roles:

  • Support our maintenance team, managing perennial foodscapes around the St. Louis Region

  1. These landscapes are edible-focused but often contain a significant portion of native landscaping as well. 

  • As part of a team work as a personal vegetable gardener to private residential gardens and restaurants 


Installation Support:

  • Support our installation team from time to time with new garden build outs

  • Planting, mulching, moving materials, etc

  • Driving trucks to make deliveries or pick up materials 

Qualifications

  • Ability and willingness to lift 50+ pounds

  • Ability and willingness to work outside in the elements 

  • A willingness to learn from multiple team members and jump in where needed is ideal
